Be still my beating heart. Suzuki just announced that they are bringing back the Alto Works.
64hp, 74ft/lb, AWD, MANUAL!!!, Recaro seats, 1350lbs pocket rocket!
My sweet fuck I wished I lived in Japan. I’d buy one of these today.
They will make it in both FWD and AWD, 5spd auto or 5spd manual.
For an AWD Manual it will set you back a measly 1,618,000 yen ($13,400 usd tax included !!!)
It gets 22km/L (51.7 MPG!!!) something like this would go a LONG way to help the fuel crisis.
The mobile site works best to check out the specs since My desktop is useless at translating Japanese but this is by far the most excited I’ve been over a car I can’t get.
Here is a superb walk around of the thing so you can see the inside and out of it. Notice just how much room you really get in one of these. Nowhere near as tiny as the outside would suggest.
Have you ever considered relocating your whole life just for a car? My brain tells me that is a stupid idea but my heart thinks its the perfect plan.

$13,400 on the road. in reality that equates to about $10,000 usd msrp.

So how quickly can we change the US import laws?
Because I need this in my life.

64 HP! That’s 1/4th of my riding mower :P
Can’t wait till its in Forza 6 or possibly 7. Only way most of us will be able to drive one.

Pretty awesome! Not sure I am sold on the front end treatment though...I miss the rounded lights of the older models. :)
I’ve always wanted a Suzuki Alto Lapin SS :P
...yeah stupid IPad at work isn’t letting me link images, but look the Alto Lapin SS up! Not as fast as the Alto Works would be, but I love the style!

I’d rock one.
My first car had 65 hp. and weighed 1,900 lbs. and was reasonably fun. This has the same power but weighs 500 lbs. less. Sounds like fun.

Suzuki needs to make a one-make rally series for these.

It is indeed better than the average kei-car... don’t even think that the AWD feels any different than a basic FWD... Drove a Subaru r2 STI for a while and... it just wasn’t much fun at all. Still better than a basic automatic Suzuki Alto which I do drive at least twice a week too :(

About $5 Trillion in political campaign contributions and a generation or so full of election cycles should get it done.
Might want to bring an extra $5 Trillion to out-donate the luxury auto industry who will be fighting you to keep the laws they already lobbied for in place.

It would need a million air bags to pass the crash test.

There must be a way where you can buy this car, remove engine and some parts in Japan and ship it in here as parts.
Then put it back together and call it a “kit car” :)

This needs to be turned into a rally car with all the horsepowers. Or at least 125 hp or so. Would the Ford 1.0L fit?

Is it still solid rear axle?

It sure is!

So, aside from some calibration changes, it seems like they’ve just slapped all the old running gear under the new car.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it I guess.
I’m sure they can only allow so much R&D to keep the car at it’s current price point.

Yea, that’s probably it. Not the hugest fan of the solid rear axle, but it’s still a sweet little ride!
